Career Stories with Eric Sena, Senior Mortgage Broker

Welcome to Career Success Stories, featuring the success stories of true people here in Canada and across the globe. In celebration of Victoria Day, I had the honour to interview Eric Sena, a Senior Mortgage Broker based in British Columbia, Canada and we talked about his emerging victory in the Real Estate and Mortgage Brokerage industry. Eric hails from the Philippines and immigrated to Canada in 2001 with his lovely family.


What inspired you to be a Mortgage Broker?

Answer: Helping my clients achieve their goal in Home Ownership and get their finances in shape are always my goal when I work with my clients.

It has always been my passion to see my client’s wealth grow, and it makes me feel great to know that I’m a part of it.


What type of services do you provide?


Answer: I shop around for my clients to get the best possible rate and mortgage approval for their new purchases, refinances, renewals, equity takeouts and purchases of rental property. I provide mortgage advise to help my clients achieve their goal.


What sets you apart from the competition? What makes you unique?


Answer: I care for my clients. I am a full-service Mortgage Broker. I not only provide good rates and deals for my clients but also provide continuous financial advice with their mortgage needs.


What would you tell emerging Mortgage Broker like yourself?


Answer: Be patient, it does not take overnight to build your client base. You need to earn the trust of the public to get more clients.


How did you become a Mortgage Broker? What courses or work experiences did you pursue?


Answer: I have a Degree in Business and worked as a Financial Advisor and Mortgage Specialist at the Royal Bank of Canada for nine years; these experiences allowed me to challenge the examinations for the mortgage brokering license in British Columbia.


What and who drives you to achieve results?


Answer: Seeing my clients achieve their goal is what keeps me going as a Mortgage Broker and knowing that I was part of it.


What are three values you live up to?


Answer: Integrity, Commitment and Efficiency


Integrity - Mortgage Brokering involves public trust and interest. It is with full integrity that I am able to provide the best options for my clients that may be beneficial for their long term financial growth.


Commitment - I take pride in what I do, and I make sure I dedicate enough time for my clients to know their options so they can decide for their future.


Efficiency - This position involves multiple case scenarios, calculations and timely delivery of commitments. Having worked in this business for 14 years, it helped me achieve the knowledge and skill set I need to provide my clients with accurate mortgage calculations they need to make good financial decisions within the deadlines set by each mortgage deal.
